Hyundai told owners of 94,622 Genesis and G80 sedans to park outside; the fix is not ready

A seat switch in 94,622 Genesis and G80 sedans can stick and keep its motor running. Owners are told to park outdoors until a fix exists. The goal: every owner warned, then every car fixed.

What happened

The story, from the record.

On October 8, 2026 Hyundai Motor America filed recall 26V664 with NHTSA for 94,622 cars: 54,644 Hyundai Genesis sedans from the 2015 and 2016 model years and 39,978 Genesis G80s from 2017 to 2020, all with power seats that have no memory function.

The seat switch can be knocked loose or damaged and stay engaged, so the seat motor keeps running, which raises the risk of a fire while the car is driven or parked. Hyundai counted two alleged fires in the United States, with no crashes or injuries.

The remedy is still under development. Until the repair is done, owners are told to park outdoors and away from other vehicles and buildings. Dealers are to be told on December 6, and owner letters are expected the next day.

The newest of these cars is about seven years old. Many are on their second or third owner, at an address the registration file may not have. The warning only works if it reaches the person who parks the car.

How OneShot would run it

The goal this leaves open.

OneShot was not involved in this event. This is how the goal it describes would run as one OneShot goal: what one case is, when the goal is done, the steps per case, and the known tool costs for one pass.

The goal

Warn every current owner to park outdoors before the letters go out, then see every car through the repair once it exists.

One case
One VIN on the recall list.
Starts
When the recall's VIN list is loaded. A second pass starts when the remedy is released.
Done when
Every VIN ends repaired, confirmed scrapped or exported, or unreached once the contact rule runs out, on both the warning pass and the repair pass.
Keeps trying
A text and an email, a call within three days, then a letter to the newest address found, then the VIN is marked unreached.
Asks a person before
Every message sent in Hyundai's name, and the wording of the park-outside warning.
