Goals from the news

Pennsylvania returned a record $334 million in unclaimed property, with $5 billion still held

A record year returned $334.1M, and the state still holds more than $5B owed to one in ten Pennsylvanians. Finding owners is a goal that only ever gets partly done.

What happened

The story, from the record.

On February 18, 2026 the Pennsylvania Treasury reported that it had returned $334.1 million in unclaimed property during 2025, beating the previous record of $272.2 million set in 2024.

The Treasury still holds more than $5 billion. More than one in ten Pennsylvanians is owed something, and the average claim is over $1,000. The 2025 total included $18.9 million returned to 113 counties, municipalities and school districts, about $50 million returned automatically through the new Money Match program in its first year, and 548 military decorations, among them 13 Purple Hearts.

The property keeps arriving: dormant accounts, uncashed checks, forgotten deposits, turned over by companies that could not find the owner either.

On both sides, the public one and the corporate one, this is the same goal: find a person whose address stopped working, tell them, and get them to act. Thousands of small cases, none worth a caseworker's week, all worth a letter and a call.

How OneShot would run it

The goal this leaves open.

OneShot was not involved in this event. This is how the goal it describes would run as one OneShot goal: the objective, the steps per case, and the list price of each.

The goal

Before a company's annual filing, reach every owner on the dormant list with a letter and a call, and resolve the accounts that can be resolved.

  1. 01

    Trace the owner

Match each dormant account to a living person or an operating business: a current address, a phone, and an email that verifies.
