Goals from the news

Honda recalled 880,514 vehicles in 22 salt-belt states for subframe corrosion

880,514 Pilot, Passport, Ridgeline and MDX vehicles up to 12 years old need an inspection. Most have changed hands at least once. The goal: get them into a service bay.

What happened

The story, from the record.

Honda filed recall 26V-365 with NHTSA on June 4, 2026, covering 880,514 vehicles sold or registered in 22 salt-belt states and the District of Columbia: 463,253 Pilots (2016–2022), 217,517 Acura MDXs (2014–2020), 110,070 Ridgelines (2017–2023) and 89,674 Passports (2019–2023).

Road de-icing agents can corrode the rear subframe where it mounts to the body, because the coating did not meet Honda's specification. A corroded mount can let the subframe separate and the driver lose control. As of May 28, 2026, Honda had no warranty claims, injuries or deaths on record.

Dealers were notified on June 5 and owner letters were scheduled for July 7. The remedy is an inspection, then a reinforcement kit or a replacement subframe, depending on what the inspection finds.

The oldest vehicles in the population are 12 years old. Each one has a current owner, who may be the third, in a state that may not be the one it was sold in. One letter to the address on file reaches some of them. The rest is the goal.

How OneShot would run it

The goal this leaves open.

OneShot was not involved in this event. This is how the goal it describes would run as one OneShot goal: the objective, the steps per case, and the list price of each.

The goal

Raise the inspection rate for the oldest model years above the recall average within a year, one owner at a time.

    Check the VIN first

Look each vehicle up in the federal recall database. Vehicles already inspected leave the list before anyone is contacted.
