The documented problem

The published Kikin case study describes a UK supply chain finance provider for small and medium-sized businesses whose product depends on reading accounting data directly from each customer’s accounting platform; it calls that the only way to automate underwriting. Building and maintaining those connections in-house was more than a small engineering team could carry.

Kikin adopted a unified accounting connection, covering more than 95% of its customers through two platforms. The OneShot workflow below uses that kind of connection as one tool among several, adding document extraction for bank statements, company registry checks and sanctions screening so the agent can assemble the whole credit file.

The OneShot solution

A credit file built from the applicant’s own books

Give the credit reviewer a complete, sourced file for every application, built from data the applicant has authorized.

  1. 01

    Connect the books

The applicant authorizes access to its accounting platform. The OneShot agent uses its ledger connection to read invoices, bills, balances and the ageing of receivables and payables, and records the date of each pull.

  2. 02

    Read the bank statements

Extract transactions from the uploaded statements and reconcile them with the ledger for the same period. Flag receipts and payments that appear in one record and not the other.

  3. 03

Check the company and its people

Pull the company’s registry record, officers and filing history, and screen the company and its directors against sanctions lists. Research the business and request anything the file still lacks.

  4. 04

    Present the file

Give the reviewer the figures, the differences between sources and the open questions. Record the decision, its conditions and the date the file must be refreshed.

What counts as complete

The reviewer has recorded a decision on a file in which every figure traces to a connected source or an uploaded document.

Decisions and exceptions

  • Books and bank statements that disagree go to the reviewer with both records.
  • A possible sanctions match pauses the application until a person clears it.
  • The agent prepares the file; approval, pricing and decline decisions stay with the lender.

What to measure

  • Time from application to complete file
  • Applicant follow-up requests
  • Differences found between books and bank
  • Reviewer rework

Establish the baseline and review period before launch. Compare completed cases, unresolved work and reviewer corrections against the same scope.

The agent’s tool basket

OneShot gives its agents the tools to analyze records, communicate, research and act on authorized business data. The platform carries the workflow from the first action through to the recorded result.

  • Ledger connection

Read bills, invoices, balances and accruals from a connected accounting system, and write back approved entries where authorized.

  • Credit file and decisions

Read the application and credit policy; record the reviewer’s decision, conditions and refresh date.

  • Document extraction

Classify incoming documents and read invoices, statements, agreements and customs forms into structured lines, each tied to its source page.

  • Company registry and filings

Pull a company’s registry record, officers, filings and reported financials from the public register.

  • Sanctions screening

Screen people and companies against sanctions and politically exposed person lists, with the matched entry attached.
